Roofer alleging lack of safety equipment sues employer for $500,000
GALVESTON Texas – A roofing laborer from Galveston Texas claims he was injured while working on a home because he was not provided with any safety equipment. Because of this he is suing his employer for a half of a million dollars. The laborer reports he had no experience in doing siding work and yet was supplied with tools and told to begin removing the wood siding from the house after the job was explained to him.
This article appeared on the website setexasrecord.com. Notice what it states:
“As he was completing the work, the plaintiff fell off of the ladder provided by the defendant,” the original petition says. “The plaintiff was severely injured as a result of the fall.”
“There was no scaffolding or proper ladder provided for the plaintiff, there was no safety harness or belts provided and there was no training provided on how to safely do the work that the defendant had the plaintiff doing,” the suit says.
Now if you are living in Atlanta Georgia what does this mean for you?
Simply this…
- If you are having an Atlanta roof installed on your home you better make sure that the Georgia roofing company has the proper insurance
- Don’t make the mistake of trying to do it yourself and outsource the labor by hiring laborers
How would you like to be the poor homeowner that is in the middle of this mess described above?
